Getting started

What is IceShift Fantasy?

IceShift Fantasy is a free, season-long game built around the NHL schedule. You open player packs, manage a 30-player roster, earn points from real performances, and keep every player-season card you discover.

Can I join after the season has started?

Yes. Standings use a rolling window of each team’s latest 30 completed gamedays, so starting early gives no permanent advantage. A team that joins midseason can compete on equal terms once it has completed 30 gamedays.

How do I begin?

Sign in with Google, choose a unique team name, and open your starter pack. It contains 18 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goalies from teams playing on your first fantasy day, already arranged as a valid roster.

The gameday loop

What happens on each fantasy gameday?

Review the NHL slate, move players between your active lineup and taxi squad, and confirm any changes before lock. Your active players then earn points from completed games. Once every game on the slate is final, your result is settled and the next pack becomes available.

When does my lineup lock?

The entire lineup locks 60 minutes before the earliest NHL game on that fantasy-day slate. After lock, the active lineup and taxi squad cannot be changed for that gameday.

How do daily packs work?

After the current slate is complete, you can open six cards for the next fantasy day: 3 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie. Every pull enters your collection immediately. You may swap new players into your roster, but you must finish with a valid 30-player roster and leave exactly six of the 36 available cards out.

Rosters and rules

How is the roster structured?

Your active lineup has 20 players: 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goalies. Your taxi squad has 10 more: 6 forwards, 3 defensemen, and 1 goalie. Players can move only between matching position groups.

What salary-cap rules apply?

The 20-player active lineup must stay at or below the NHL season’s upper salary cap. The complete 30-player roster, including the taxi squad, must stay at or below one and a half times that cap.

Which players earn points?

Only players in your active lineup count toward the team’s gameday score. Taxi-squad performance is shown for reference but does not add to your total.

What is Fantasy Points Rank (FPR)?

FPR is a 1–99 percentile that compares a player’s season fantasy-point total with every other player. A higher number is better. It is a roster-building guide, not an extra source of points.

Scoring and standings

How are fantasy points calculated?

Skaters score through goals, assists, plus/minus, blocked shots, hits, and time on ice. Goalies score through saves, wins, shutouts, and time on ice, while goals against subtract points. Each game is scored independently. See the complete scoring formula.

How does the rolling leaderboard work?

Teams are ranked by total points from their latest 30 completed gamedays. When a team completes a 31st gameday, its oldest result leaves the total and the newest result replaces it. Tied totals share a rank. View the leaderboard.

Cards and collection

What happens to cards that leave my roster?

They stay in your collection permanently. Removing a card from the competitive roster stops that player from scoring for your team, but it never removes the player-season card from your album.

Is IceShift free to play?

Yes. IceShift has no paid entry, prizes, or betting. Public hockey pages and the card checklist can also be browsed without signing in.
